Аннотация
This article is devoted to the analysis of strategies for constructing a negative image of Russia in the German magazine “Der Spiegel” during the period from September 2022 to February 2025. The aim of the study is to identify the main communicative tactics used to discredit Russia in multimodal media texts. The material for the research consists of 48 publications from the magazine, in which verbal and visual elements are integrated to influence the audience. The key tactics highlighted are accusation, criminalization, catastrophization and association with fascism. It has been established that the combination of negatively connoted vocabulary with visual allusions to militarism and totalitarianism forms stereotypes that reinforce Russia’s negative image. The research results demonstrate that multimodal texts in “Der Spiegel” perform not only an informational but also an ideological function, transforming the audience’s conceptual worldview in an anti-Russian direction.
