Abstract
In the article Buddhist images and motifs in the novel by Bolot Shiribazarov "Precious" are analyzed. This book is also considered as a novel of education (Bildungsroman), represented by the writer from the perspective of the Buddhist worldview and in the context of the traditional genre of Buddhist hagiography – namtar (rNam-thar). It is established that the key motifs of the novel – return, mestizoity, preciousness – are understood by Bolot Shiribazarov not only in the anthropological, family-clan, but also in the metaphysical sense. Thus, in particular, the concept of "preciousness" in the book is defined by the return of the heroes to an existence beyond illusory limitations and without moral obscurations, to life on the path of love and compassion.
