Abstract
The article considers the main characteristics of linguistic phenomenon of redundancy in drama. The study showed that redundancy has a strong pragmatic potential. In the article two types of semantic redundancy were identified and specified according to the employed function and repetition scheme. As the basis for the realization of semantic redundancy types of repetitions, pause and hesitation were analyzed.
