Abstract
The article is devoted to indirect communication strategies that require further interpretation of the inaugural addresses of the US presidents of the 21st century. Being the task of the recipient, the process of interpretation becomes an act of co-creation and adopts a strategic role in American political discourse. The cognitive-interpretive approach to the investigation into indirect communication means allowed us to determine that they are used as a method of programming the recipient’s interpretation in the way necessary for the author.
