The goal of the study is to analyze the main historical and socio-cultural factors that influenced the formation of the modern educational model of the Chinese Buddhism. The model of Buddhist education presented in the Republic of China served as the basis for the formation of modern monastic education in China in terms of methods and forms of teaching, curricula, and the educational process. The main research methods are dialectical, systemic and diachronic ones. The research material consists of modern scientific publications on the development of Buddhist education in China.
