Linguistic Means of Interpersonal Relations Staging in Social Network Twitter

Abstract

Virtual communication influences the changes in the ways of interpersonal relations realisation, which is reflected in the trend towards “theatricalization” of friendly and hostile relationships in social networks. The article analyses linguistic means of friendship and hostility staging on the example of German-language Twitter posts to study the transformation of human communicative behaviour within virtual space. The study highlights verbal and non-verbal means used to create a variety of theatrical effects, attract attention and expand the circle of followers-viewers.
