The article is purposed on the research of the way motif and its lexical-semantic representation in the novel Franz Sternbald’s Journey by Ludwig Tieck. The idea of dialectic movement is involved in the representation of the way motif in two aspects: dynamic characteristics of art space and mental transformation. The article brings up the first aspect. The protagonist’s way is suggested to be structured by identifying five stages: these are preparation, beginning, way process, culmination and comeback.
