Pyatigorsk Scientific School of Foreign Language Teaching Methods
Resumo
The article presents the history of the formation and development of the Pyatigorsk scientific school of foreign language teaching methods, as well as its main results and achievements. The priority research directions of the Pyatigorsk scientific school are outlined, including ethnolinguodidactics, the concept of a happy foreign language teacher, autolinguodidactics, didactics of multilingualism, the international scientific annual methodological symposium “Lempert Readings”.



The Potential of Using Foreign Language Online Courses in the System of Further Education
Resumo
The article discusses the experience of using a program of professional retraining "Professional Communication Practice" at Moscow State Linguistic University and considers the potential of using online language courses in the system of further education at the university to increase the level of professionally oriented communicative competence and to boost the popularity of the program.



English as a Lingua Franca: To Teach or not to Teach?
Resumo
The purpose of the study was to clarify the attitude towards the English-as-a-lingua-franca concept in the domestic and foreign academic environments and the relevance of teaching ELF in Russia. The methodology included collation of evaluative statements of researchers about ELF, tracking its characteristic features in undergraduate curricula of the discipline “Foreign language (English)” at Russian universities of a random sample. The results suggest a need for a differentiated approach.



Developing Criteria for Assessing the Level of Students' Reading Comprehension of Academic Education-Related Texts
Resumo
The article is devoted to the development of future teachers' skills of reading comprehension of academic education-related texts. The work presents a brief description of academic texts related to pedagogy, their typology, a description of the levels of reading comprehension of professionally oriented foreign language reading matter, a system of criteria for assessing the proposed levels with a view to diagnosing students' skills and dividing them into multi-level groups for effective teaching.



Forming the Pragmatic Orientation of Speech Acts in View of Professional Guidance at School
Resumo
The article examines the contents of the pragmatic aspect of the student’s second language identity as well as the process of its formation across the educational levels, taking into account the periodization of professional development of the individual. The prerequisites, types and forms of pragmatization of the process of continuous linguistic and methodological training of a foreign language teacher, including the stages of early selection, are specified.



Revisiting the Role of the Russian Sign Language for Linguodidactic Purposes
Resumo
In the article the author examines the demand for Russian sign language as an object of study, which is due to the fact that an accessible environment is actively developing in Russia, including one for acoustically challenged people. The author raises the problem of determining the legal and linguistic status of RSL, the need to develop linguodidactic foundations and teaching methods for the Russian sign language, without which it is impossible to organize large-scale training of teachers and translators of RSL.



Developing Foreign Language Communicative Skills of Non-Linguistics Students through an Instructional Design Model
Resumo
The article considers the teaching of foreign language professional communication to non-linguistics students based on the Backward design model. The authors present a teaching technique aimed at FL communicative competence development in the context of a “backward” planning course, i.e., the identification of final results and the determination of acceptable evidence precede learning activities and instruction. The results of the experimental teaching to non-linguistics students with the use of the design model are discussed.



Traditions and Prospects of the Development of Russian Foreign Language Teaching Theory from the Historical Perspective (in memory of A. A. Mirolubov): Part 2. The 1970s – the beginning of the 1990s
Resumo
The article continues a historic survey of the development of foreign language teaching theory in Russia considering the period of the 70s up to the beginning of the 90s; this period is defined as the generation and development of the Russian communicative method of teaching foreign languages; the authors emphasize the independent route of the Russian theory in the global context on the basis of the concept of language as communication, theory of action-oriented communication, foreign language acquisition and developmental education in Russian research.



Creolization: New Opportunities for Teaching Foreign Language Grammar
Resumo
The article is devoted to the problem of teaching foreign languages and Russian as a foreign language using creolized texts in the general context of informatization and computerization of modern education. The relationship between the verbal and non-verbal parts of such texts and the components included in the paralinguistic part are described; the role of creolization in teaching foreign languages is considered, the principles of selection and designing creolized texts are highlighted.



Translation Equivalence as the Object of Acquisition in Communicative and Interdisciplinary Curricula

The article explores the didactic potential of the synergy of a practical language course and courses in theory and practice of translation in translator’s training programmes. The nucleus of translating has been taken as the basis for interdisciplinary integration. The categories of approach, technology and assessment are addressed.



Problems of Teaching French-Language Writing in the Context of Digital Transformation of Education
Resumo
A qualitative breakthrough in text generation technologies requires some understanding of their applicability for teaching French-language writing skills. A theoretical analysis of linguodidactic research, works on the psychology of perception and the methodology of polypositional observation leads to the conclusion that it is necessary to study the influence of digital tools on foreign language writing as an activity in order to build an effective teaching strategy.



Foreign Language Training Development in Non-Linguistics Universities in the Context of Reforming Higher Education

The paper is devoted to further development of foreign language training in non-linguistics universities in the process of reforming national higher education system. It analyses the best experience of the Soviet higher school and the best practice of recent decades as well as their influence on foreign language training. The paper also describes predictable risks and the main tasks for foreign language teaching caused by them.



Developing Communicative Competence as the Goal of Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language (B2–C1 Levels)

The article dwells on developing communicative competence in teaching Russian as a foreign language at levels B2 - C1, focusing on the differences in levels, considering the main difference - processing explicit information at level B2 and implicit information at level C1. The author supplies types of activities, aimed at developing skills of linguistic and discourse components of communicative competence based on the materials of textbook “In the World of People. Issue 3.2”.



Teaching Students of the Department of Education to Design a Foreign Language Lesson in the Modern Learning Environment

The article tackles the problem of teaching students of the department of education to design a foreign language lesson in the modern learning environment. The author analyzes the issues of designing a modern lesson aimed at discovery learning, creative development of student's personality. The article examines the goals and contents of the course “Modelling learning environment”, presents activities for undergraduate students directed at building teacher-student interaction as well as foreign language lesson planning and designing skills.



Diagnostic Assessment of Proficiency in Specialty Metalanguage (Russian as a Foreign Language)
Resumo
The article examines current approaches to teaching foreigners professional communication in Russian. Special attention is given to the efficiency of teaching metalanguage through diagnostic assessment of proficiency in communicative competence. According to the inventory of skills in linguistic and discourse competences types of activities for diagnostic assessment are proposed.

Difficulties of Speech Development in Four to Five Year Old Children from Monolingual and Bilingual Families
Resumo
The article discusses the difficulties of speech development of four to five year old children from monolingual and bilingual families. The assumption is verified that the difference between the speech of children from monolingual and bilingual families lies in the level of proficiency in lexical consistency. 30 children with difficulties in speech development in Russian were studied. Using the indicators of the methodology for determining the speech level development of preschool children, observation and conversation with children and their parents, the assumption was confirmed.



Influence of Language Environment on Mental Development of Preschool Bilingual Children
Resumo
The article discusses the problem of early foreign language teaching to children and its influence on their mental development; singles out the features of bilingual education of preschool children, presents the study results of their mental development dynamics in different variants of organizing language environment. It is confirmed that bilingual children in the language environment close to natural show higher rates of mental development compared to bilingual children in the artificial language environment.



Cognitive-Emotional and Motivational-Volitional Manifestations of the Personality of Foreign Students during the Adaptation Period (using the example of MSLU)
Resumo
Personality manifestations of foreign students during the period of socio-psychological adaptation are identified and designated. During the pilot study, the personality traits of foreign students were differentiated and ranked: self-acceptance, acceptance of others, emotional comfort, internality, desire for dominance. It has been empirically proven that during the period of adaptation, personality manifestations in the cognitive-emotional sphere require psychological and pedagogical support especially.

Certain Organizational, Legal and Doctrinal Aspects of the Establishment of Inheritance Funds in the Russian Federation
Resumo
The article deals with certain problematic issues of the establishment of domestic inheritance funds related to the implementation by notaries conducting inheritance business of the powers provided for by current legislation. The mechanism of legal relations with notaries who keep copies of the will, the bodies of the foundation being created, the authorized state body carrying out the state registration of the foundation is analyzed, and proposals for its improvement are formulated.



Minors as Third Parties in Criminal Law Relations: the Cоncept and Categories
Resumo
The article examines the concept of minors as third parties in criminal law relations. Provides their classification on various grounds, including by age, health status, taking into account the financial situation of the family of a minor, depending on the type of punishment imposed on the convicted close relative, and some others. The necessity of improving the mechanisms of criminal legal protection of minors, including teenagers is grounded.



Digital Traces in the Investigation of Crimes Committed Using the Opportunities of the Online Forex Market
Resumo
The article is devoted to the study of digital traces of crimes committed using the opportunities of the interbank online Forex currency market. The study of this issue was carried out using systematic, logical, formal legal methods, methods of analysis and synthesis. The results of the study allowed us to show that the digital traces of crimes committed using the opportunities of the interbank online Forex currency market are information from fake websites, from accounts (for example, trading) of the victim and third parties.
