MECHANISMS OF LOCOMOTOR ASYMMETRY INFLUENCE ON TEMPO-RHYTHMIC STRUCTURE IN SPEED SKATING AND WAYS TO MINIMIZE IT
Abstract
The article addresses the problem of locomotor asymmetry as a key factor determining the effectiveness of the tempo-rhythmic structure of competitive activity in speed skating. It examines the complex mechanisms through which asymmetry negatively affects the tempo-rhythmic structure, including biomechanical, energetic, and neuromuscular components.
The purpose of the study is to theoretically substantiate the mechanisms of the negative impact of locomotor asymmetry on the tempo-rhythmic structure of running in speed skating, and to develop and experimentally test the effectiveness of a comprehensive method for its correction.
Research methods and organization. Systemic and biomechanical analysis, a review of scientific and methodological literature, pedagogical observation, pedagogical experiment, and methods of mathematical statistics were applied. The pedagogical experiment was conducted with the participation of qualified speed skaters over a period of 12 weeks.
Research results and conclusions. Key mechanisms of the negative impact of locomotor asymmetry on the tempo-rhythmic structure of speed skaters' running have been identified, among which the main ones are biomechanical, energetic, and neuromuscular. The need for targeted correction of contralateral locomotor asymmetry has been substantiated by establishing a close, statistically significant relationship between the reduction of its indicators and the improvement of athletic performance. At the end of the pedagogical experiment, a statistically significant improvement in the key parameters of the tempo-rhythmic structure was recorded: a decrease in the step length asymmetry index, an increase in pace stability, and a reduction in the time to cover a 500 m distance. The obtained data indicate the high effectiveness of the developed complex of methods for correcting asymmetry and confirm the advisability of its implementation in the training process of qualified speed skaters.

IMPROVING ACTIVE PREPARATORY ACTIONS THROUGH THE ASSESSMENT OF PARTNER RESPONSES IN THE TRAINING OF 12-13-YEAR-OLD KARATE PRACTITIONERS
Abstract
The purpose of the study is to develop tools and methods for training active preparatory actions to improve the effectiveness of attacking, counterattacking, and defensive-responsive actions in the competitive practice of 12-13-year-old karate athletes.
Research methods and organization. Pedagogical observations of the content of competitive activity were conducted using video recording tools, which eliminate any interference from researchers in the athletes' competitive activities. The study involved karate athletes aged 12–13. The experimental study included the use of video recordings and the processing of screenshots of the athletes’ performance of test tasks in both the experimental and control groups. At the end of the training season, the athletes underwent final testing, which was similar to the initial assessment.
Research results and conclusions. The methodology for improving preparatory actions is aimed at achieving the fastest and most accurate assessment of an opponent's response. Training of active preparatory actions, based on evaluating the partner's (opponent's) responses, was conducted with the athletes of the experimental group during the main part of the session, following the practice of attacking techniques. The results obtained demonstrate a significant improvement in the time between the initiation of active preparatory actions and the partner's (opponent's) response, as well as in the timing of the initiator's attacking action in a combat encounter. The effectiveness of the experimental methodology aimed at enhancing active preparatory actions has been proven, and the necessity of its implementation in the training process at the instructional-training stage of sports preparation is substantiated.

STABILITY OF THE EQUILIBRIUM OF THE "ATHLETE-BARBELL" SYSTEM DURING EXECUTION OF VARIOUS TYPES OF THE BARBELL SQUAT
Abstract
The barbell squat is one of the most popular exercises used in the strength training of athletes across various sports. When performing this movement, the stability of the "athlete-barbell" system is crucial, as a loss of balance can lead to serious injuries.
The purpose of the study is to assess the degree of stability of the "athlete-barbell" system equilibrium in various types of barbell squats (on the shoulders and on the chest) among athletes of different skill levels.
Research methods and organization. The experiments involved athletes of low qualification, as well as high-level powerlifters and weightlifters. Photo and video recording were used, along with biomechanical modeling through the computer program 'Powerlifting Biomechanics.' Testing and methods of mathematical statistics were employed.
Research results and conclusions. It has been established that athletes of both low and high skill levels exhibit virtually the same degree of balance stability of the "athlete-barbell" system in the sagittal plane when performing both variations of the barbell squat. The balance stability of the "athlete-barbell" system in the forward direction is significantly lower than in the backward direction for all athletes in both variations of the barbell squat. This circumstance increases the likelihood of the athlete falling forward when performing barbell squats, especially if the barbell is heavy. In this regard, when performing barbell squats, it is recommended to use additional spotting and/or reduce the barbell weight for athletes whose forward stability angle is close to the critical value.
