Abstract
The paper discusses the experience of involving students in experimental work on the development of a grant and the opportunities for their self-realization in collective artistic and creative activities. The aim of the study is to introduce students to practice-oriented design through their self-realization in artistic and creative activities in extracurricular competitive activities. Nowadays it is the optimal integration of classroom, independent and extracurricular activities of students that contributes to the development of a modern specialist. It explains the relevance of the study. While the ways to improve classroom learning for students are sufficiently covered in the scientific literature, the issues of extracurricular activities remain open for discussion, therefore, there are opportunities for their further investigation. A promising area for students’ self-realization in extracurricular activities are various competitions, olympiads, and grants. The paper presents the experience of implementing the student grant “History in Colors”, the results of which showed not only a high level of student training, but also contributed to the enrichment of professional competencies in the process of their self-realization. As a result, students came to a deeper understanding of the meaning of the materials in the educational process and their further use in professional activities.
