Abstract
The article presents a theoretical review of Russian and foreign studies on the phenomenon of digital self-harming behavior among adolescents, carried out in order to analyze this phenomenon and describe the main trends in its existence, expression and development, including a description of the possible typology of its forms. Digital self-harm is a new phenomenon of digital socialization of teenagers, a term that is interpreted as self-harm through the use of various digital platforms. The phenomenon was first described in 2012, is found in 6–15% of the adolescent sample, tends to increase. The total list of publications included in the review was 43 Russian and foreign works. The content of the selected publications allows us to define the phenomenon of digital self-harm, suggest a typology of its forms, and also state its relationship with other types of autodestructive online behavior. The study of this phenomenon in adolescents is a new area of research and has an insufficient number of publications, while digital self-harm can act as a marker of serious limitations in positive functioning and serve as a factor in mental health and well-being disorders among the younger generation.
