Today we celebrate the 130th anniversary of the birth of Mikhail Bakhtin — a thinker, philosopher, philologist, cultural scholar, and educator whose ideas shaped the trajectory of the humanities in the 20th century. Dialogue and cultural dialogue, action and responsibility, carnival and ambivalent laughter, polyphony and chronotope — these are the concepts that mark Bakhtin's discoveries, which we would like everyone to understand, not just experts. Today, our University is hosting the 7th International Scientific Seminar “Bakhtin in the World of Words,” dedicated to the 130th anniversary of Mikhail Bakhtin's birth and the 60th anniversary of the book “The Work of François Rabelais and the Popular Culture of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance.” |

The M. M. Bakhtin Center will co-organize the scientific conference “Mikhail Bakhtin’s ‘Big Time’. To the 130th Anniversary of the Thinker’s Birth”Posted: 25.04.2025
The conference will be held on October 14–16, 2025. The conference will focus on modern angles of understanding of M. M. Bakhtin’s philosophical heritage, the importance of his ideas in the development of the humanities, and the thinker’s influence on the study of world and national culture.
