Abstract
The focus of this article is the countries located in eastern and central Africa. The Great Lakes region is a complex web of political and economic interactions with major implications for peace, security and governance. It is also a region with interconnected conflicts and common fundamental problems arising from post-colonial challenges to state and national existence, which will be discussed in this article.
