Editorial Policies
Aims and Scope
Scientific and practical journal “Izvestya of Kabardino-Balkarian State Agrarian University named after I.I. V.M. Kokov” aims to convey the results of original research works in various fields of agricultural science, to the scientific community and practitioners, to assist graduate students and young scientists in the publication of research results in the preparation of their dissertations.
The journal publishes scientific articles in the following fields of science, groups of scientific specialties, scientific specialties and branches of science:

Peer Review Process
- All manuscripts of scientific articles received by the editors of the journal undergo a review procedure for the purpose of their peer review. Scientific articles prepared in accordance with the requirements of the journal are allowed for review.
- All materials submitted for publication in the journal are subject to review.
- Each article undergoes a two-stage review. At the first stage, the article is checked on formal grounds and in the Anti-Plagiarism system. The level of originality of the article must be at least 75%.
- The procedure for the initial consideration of the article (the first stage of review):
4.1. Preliminary review period: no more than 14 days.
4.2. The editorial board of the journal accepts for consideration articles and materials corresponding to the scientific profile of the journal. Materials that do not correspond to the subject of the journal are not accepted for consideration.
4.3. Articles are checked for borrowings under the Anti-Plagiarism program and are subject to mandatory peer review.
4.4. The manuscript of a scientific article received by the editorial office of the journal is considered by the executive secretary for the completeness of the package of submitted documents and the compliance of the manuscript (article) with the requirements of the editorial office, the profile of the journal and the rules of registration. In case of non-compliance with the conditions of publication, the article may be sent to the author for revision.
4.5. An article corresponding to the profile of the journal and the requirements for publication is registered in the register of manuscripts received by the editorial office, indicating the date of receipt, the title of the article, full name. author(s), place of work of the author(s), contact details (tel., e-mail address).
4.6. If the article meets the formal requirements and has the required percentage of originality, it, together with a check report in the Anti-Plagiarism system, is sent for review to a specialized scientist from the editorial board or a member of the University's expert council or an external reviewer. With a positive review of the article, it is allowed for publication.
- The order and procedure for reviewing manuscripts (second stage):
5.1. Reviewing scientific articles is organized by the editor-in-chief and the editorial board of the journal. The editorial board must include at least eight specialists - candidates or doctors of science (or holders of academic degrees obtained in a foreign country, who have made a significant contribution to the development of the relevant field of knowledge) from among scientific, scientific and pedagogical workers.
5.2. Members of the editorial board give written consent to participate in the work of the editorial board of the journal. Written consent is stored in the editorial office of the journal throughout the entire time of work of a member of the editorial board.
5.3. The manuscript of a scientific article received by the editors of the journal is considered by the editorial board for its compliance with the requirements, the profile of the journal and the rules of registration. In case of non-compliance with the conditions of publication, the article may be sent to the author for revision.
5.4. The manuscript corresponding to the profile of the journal and the requirements for publication is transferred to the reviewer (the authors of the manuscripts are not informed about the identity of the reviewers).
5.5. Reviewers of manuscripts of scientific articles received by the editors of the journal may be members of the editorial board of the journal, members of the expert councils of the University in scientific areas, scientific and pedagogical workers of the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education of the Kabardino-Balkarian State Agrarian University, who have the degree of doctor or candidate of sciences, specialists (doctors or Candidates of Sciences) from other educational and scientific organizations in Russia and foreign countries, representatives of ministries, departments, institutions.
5.6. All reviewers must be recognized experts in the subject of the peer-reviewed materials and have publications on the subject of the peer-reviewed article within the last 3 years.
5.7. The reviewer cannot be the author or co-author of the peer-reviewed scientific article, the supervisor (consultant) of the author. The person involved in the review may refuse the peer review of the article if he does not have the necessary competence.
5.8. Involvement of external reviewers is allowed when members of the editorial board of the journal, scientific and teaching staff of the University do not have the necessary level of competence for the peer review of a scientific article. In this case, the editorial board of the journal decides to involve in the expert evaluation of the manuscript of the article a specialist who has publications related to the content of the materials received by the editors of the journal.
5.9. Peer review of articles submitted to the editorial office of the journal is carried out through mandatory two-sided “blind” peer review (the author does not know the reviewer, and the reviewer does not know the author).
5.10. In case of an ambiguous expert assessment of the article by the reviewer involved in the review and in case the topic of the article is at the intersection of different scientific specialties, the editorial board together with the editorial board of the journal may recommend the article for additional review. In this case, several reviewers may be involved in the expert assessment of the scientific article.
5.11. The editorial board determines the reviewer and, after preliminary agreement with him, sends him the scientific article in electronic form. The reviewer is notified that the article transferred to him for expert assessment is the intellectual property of the author and is classified information that is not subject to disclosure. The reviewer has no right to use the manuscript for his own purposes or the purposes of third parties, transfer the manuscript for review to another person without the consent of the editor-in-chief of the journal, or disclose information contained in the manuscript before its publication.
5.12. The reviewer must provide an expert assessment of the scientific article within two to four weeks from the date of its receipt. The text of the review is sent to the editorial office by e-mail, and the signed review is personally submitted to the editorial office of the journal or sent by mail.
5.13. When providing an expert assessment of a scientific article, the reviewer is obliged to:
- draw attention to the relevance and novelty of the scientific problem solved by the author in the material;
- characterize the theoretical and/or applied (practical) significance of the article;
- correlate the author's conclusions with existing scientific views on the issue under consideration;
- evaluate the personal contribution of the author(s) of the article to solving the issues under consideration, the scientific nature of the style of presentation of the material;
- provide an opinion on the reliability and validity of the conclusions set out in the article.
5.14. The review ends with a general assessment of the article and the reviewer's recommendation for publication in the journal: "The article is recommended for publication", "The article is recommended for publication after revision/elimination of comments", "The article is not recommended for publication".
3.5.15. If the reviewer recommends the article for publication after revision/elimination of comments or does not recommend the article for publication, the review shall indicate specific reasons for such a decision with a clear formulation of the deficiencies identified during the expert assessment of the article.

4 issues per year (1 issue per quarter), 300 copies.

This journal provides free and open access to its content, based on the principle that free access to research contributes to an increased global knowledge exchange.
The free access policy complies with the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI), which means that articles are available online, allowing all users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, link to, scan for indexing, transfer as data, or use for any other purposes without financial, legal, or technical restrictions, except those necessary to access the Internet itself.
