The article analyzes the label to the provincial secretary from the Persian essay “Dastur al-katib fi tayin al-maratib” by Muhammad ibn Hindushah Nakhchivani. The authors of the article for the first time introduce into the Russian-language scientific circulation a source characterizing the peculiarities of the organization of provincial power in the Genghis states in the range of Persian-Muslim culture, and also offer a preliminary analysis of this document. The responsibilities of the provincial secretary were related to the management and control of the activities of persons directly involved in the process of collecting taxes and maintaining financial and fiscal registers, the distribution of part of the collected taxes as a salary to officials. This document allows to better understand the official duties of the secretaries of the chambers (divan bitekchelere), indicated in the initial protocol of most of the surviving Genghis labels. Analysis of the document allows us to conclude that the provincial secretary was an appointee of the state's ulug-bitikchi and occupied a fairly high position in the hierarchy of local authorities, being one of the important links in financial and fiscal management.

This article presents the demographic characteristics of the population of the Malye Kokuzy village from 1716 to 1858, based on census records stored in the funds of the landrat books and the census records of the Russian State Archive of Ancient Acts and the Kazan Provincial Treasury Chamber of the State Archives of the Republic of Tatarstan. Various early references to this village are examined, leading to a hypothesis regarding its origin. The article also presents the results of an analysis of marital and family ties between residents of Malye Kokuzy and those of other settlements.

This article is devoted to the study of the service of Tatars as a part of the Life Guards of the Crimean Tatar squadron (1827–1864): the size of the salary of officers and lower ranks was established, based on the materials of the formulary lists for 1856, an average portrait of an officer was compiled, provides information on the armament and uniforms of the ranks of the military formation under study, the combat path of the Tatars during the Russo-Turkish War of 1828–1829 and the Crimean War of 1853–1856. Special attention is paid to the biographies of representatives of the Mufti-zade clan – Batyr Celebi and his son Ishmael, who were the most striking and significant figures in the Life Guards of the Crimean Tatar squadron.

The article analyzes changes in the level of education of the Russian population in West Kazakhstan from the end of the 19th to the fourth decade of the 20th century inclusive. The source base of the study is the published statistical materials of the First General Census of the Russian Empire of 1897, All-Union Census of 1926, All-Union Census of 1939, overview of the Turgay region for 1881 and 1893 and the Ural region for 1901, as well as an unpublished report on the state of the Ural Cossack army for 1887. Special attention is paid to the influence of educational policy on the formation of a sociocultural environment and the integration of the Russian population in the context of administrative reforms, transformation of the social structure and development of the education system in the territory of the multinational region, which was in the process of modernization.

The article examines the activities of the Kazan Union of Poets – a little-studied literary association that existed in Kazan in the early 1920s. Special attention is given to the translations of Tatar literature into Russian carried out within the framework of the Union, as well as to the figure of P.A. Radimov (1887–1967), who acted as the main organizer of this work. Based on publications in the journals "Press and Revolution" and "Literary newspaper", memoirs of contemporaries and analysis of translations, it is shown that the Union played an important role in the formation of a literary dialogue between Tatar and Russian writers in the context of early Soviet cultural policy. The presented materials allow us to take a fresh look at the processes of interethnic literary interaction in the first post-revolutionary years.

The history of the Ilyinskoye village of the Tetyushsky district of the Republic of Tatarstan has not previously been the subject of special research. Based on archival materials and published historical documents, one of the stages of the formation and development of the village, its role in the economic and social life of the monastery estate and the colonization of the Kazan region is shown. The article provides a fragment from the census book of the Tetyushsky district of 1646, in which the Ilyinskoye village is mentioned for the first time. Particular attention is paid to the time of existence of the settlement as part of the patrimony of the Pokrovsky monastery. Studying the history of this village allows us to reconstruct the processes of colonization and economic development of the region and to identify the mechanisms of interaction between the monastery authorities and the peasant population.

The review assesses the monograph by E.I. Sharafiev “Social and cultural development of Tatar-Kryashens of the Republic of Tatarstan in 1989–2010” (Kazan, 2024). It is emphasized that the publication gives a comprehensive analysis of the social and cultural development of the Kryashen movement in Tatarstan from the late 1980s to the 2010s. The research of E.I. Sharafiev is aimed at overcoming the information deficit and stereotypes of modern society associated with this ethnocultural group. The book is of interest to historians, ethnographers, sociologists, religious scholars and everyone who is interested in the problems of the development of national movements in modern Russia. The research can serve as one of the samples in the further study of the processes of ethnocultural development of the peoples of the Volga region.

The article is devoted to the study of the life path and scientific activity of the doctor of historical sciences Alfiya Gabdulnurovna Gallyamova, who made a significant contribution to the study of the history of the Tatar ASSR. Particular attention is paid to her methodological approach, based on deep work with archival sources and materials of "oral history", which allowed her to create a holistic picture of socio-economic and cultural-ideological transformations in the region in the second half of the 20th century. Key stages of her career are analyzed, including dissertation defense, teaching and leadership of significant projects, including the fundamental "Almetyevsk Encyclopedia" and the unique "Victory Calendar." The principled position of A.G. Gallyamova in upholding scientific conclusions that contradict the conjuncture, as well as her contribution to the historiography of the region, which is distinguished by objectivity and innovation in the study of previously closed topics.
