Peer Review Process
All scientific articles submitted to the editors of the Siberian Herald of Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry undergo mandatory single-blind peer review (authors are unaware of the reviewers and receive a letter with comments signed by the editor-in-chief).
The peer review process includes the following steps:
- Review by the journal’s scientific editor to ensure compliance with the basic manuscript requirements. All submitted articles are checked for plagiarism using the Anti-Plagiarism system. Manuscripts submitted without regard to the Terms of Publication of Articles in the Siberian Herald of Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry will not be considered; the author will be notified that their manuscript has been rejected due to non-compliance with the Terms. This review is completed within 5 days of the article’s receipt by the editors.
- Peer Review. Articles are reviewed by members of the editorial board, as well as invited reviewers—leading experts in the relevant field of medicine in Russia and other countries. The decision to select a reviewer to review an article is made by the Editor-in-Chief and Deputy Editors-in-Chief. The review period is 2-4 weeks, but it can be extended at the reviewer’s request.
Each article is sent to two reviewers for review.
Each reviewer has the right to decline to review if there is a clear conflict of interest that affects the perception and interpretation of the manuscript. If a potential conflict of interest is identified (due to competition, collaboration, or other relationships with any of the authors, companies, or other organizations related to the submitted work), the reviewer is obligated to declare it and decline to review the submitted manuscript. Specifically, potential conflicts of interest arising during manuscript review include the following:
- the reviewer works in the same department as the author(s) of the manuscript;
- there is or has recently been a collaboration between the reviewer and the author(s) of the manuscript;
- the reviewer has joint publications with the author(s) published within the last 5 years;
- the reviewer has a personal relationship with the author(s) of the article that interferes with an objective assessment of the manuscript.
Therefore, the author or co-author of the work under review, as well as the academic supervisors of degree candidates and employees of the department in which the author(s) of the article work, cannot serve as reviewers.
Based on the manuscript’s review, the reviewer makes recommendations regarding the article’s future fate:
the article is recommended for publication in its current form;
the article is recommended for publication after correction of the deficiencies noted by the reviewer;
the article requires additional review by another specialist;
the article cannot be published in the journal.
Publication Frequency
The journal is published regularly, four issues per year. The publication period (from the moment the manuscript is received by the online editorial office) is three months and depends on a number of factors: the quality and subject matter of the article itself, the authors’ responsiveness to editors’ and reviewers’ comments, the completeness of the editorial portfolio, etc. The publication period for articles that do not contain original research results may be extended due to the principle of priority and the limited number of such articles in each issue. Circulation: 500 copies.
Open Access Policy
Articles in this journal are available to everyone from the moment of publication, ensuring free and open access to research results and promoting the progress of science and medicine.
