Intramolecular cyclization of S-BBBBB[1-(2-bromoaryl)-4-chloro-1H-imidazol-5-yl]methylBBBBB ethanethioates on heating in DMF in the presence of K₂CO₃ afforded 3-chloro-4H-imidazo[5,1-c][1,4]benzothiazines which were oxidized with hydrogen peroxide to the corresponding S,S-dioxides.
