Abstract
Mild opening of the five-membered ring in 1-acetylisatins by the action of an equimolar amount of 4,4-diethoxybutan-1-amine afforded 2-(2-acetamidophenyl)-N-(4,4-diethoxybutyl)-2-oxoacetamides in almost quantitative yield.
