A novel Mannich base is synthesized by the condensation of 4-methylacetophenone and dimethylamine hydrochloride in the presence of formaldehyde. The molecular and crystal structure of the title compound is confirmed by ¹H, ¹³C NMR and IR spectroscopy, and single crystal X-ray diffraction.
