Interaction of Na9[SbW9O33] with Iridium(IV) Hydroxo Complexes

Thermostating of the aqueous solution of Na₉[SbW₉O₃₃] with K₂[Ir(OH)₆] at 70 °C for 17 h changes the solution’s color from blue to brown. The addition of KNO₃ to the reaction solution and subsequent evaporation in air causes crystallization of the products to yield yellow crystals of composition K_5.47Na_2.3[Ir_0.17Sb_0.83W₆O₂₄](NO₃)_0.6·12H₂O containing an Anderson-type anion \({[{\rm{S}}{{\rm{b}}^{\rm{V}}}{\rm{W}}_6^{{\rm{VI}}}{{\rm{O}}_{24}}]^{7 - }}\) with ∼20% of antimony positions occupied by iridium.
